What was a great New Year's Eve for you?
Here's mine.
I was living in Philly. It was the NYE before the casinos were to open in Atlantic City. I got a call from a friend whose family and his cousin's family had places next door to each other in Margate.
There was nothing much going on. My buddy called to invite my GF and I down to the shore. She was being a bitch and said she didn't want to go. We were just going to go out to a club. AC was a good option. There was going to be a real party and great places to hang out.
Finally she said, if I wanted to go I should go. Every understands what that means. Knowing the the night would suck in Philly. I said fuck it and drove to AC that afternoon.
Between the two decent sized places there were about a dozen people. They noticed she didn't come and said let's really do this. We had a few drinks and stuff before going out to the boardwalk.
Resorts International opened their hotel and was having a ton of parties and shows. We were wasted enough to go up to the front desk and ask which was the best party. The guy told and how much it would cost. That didn't go over big.
Charley had a brilliant idea. He had worked for Philadelphia Magazine maybe his press pass would work. All of a sudden the GM came out.
Seeing that worked I pulled my friend's card from a Philly radio station out and handed it to the GM. Between the two of us the GM thought he was going to get a ton of free press.
He got a couple bottles of champagne from the bar and popped them. He then took us onto the unopened casino floor to show us all tables and games.
Then he took us to the main showroom. He motioned for the Maitre D'. They gave us a table front and center with no tab.
After the show we were offered suites.
That was pretty fun.
