Big Star Documentary to be released

Weren't they the house band for That 70's Show.

Loved Chilton's solo stuff. Especially "No Sex" from 1986.

Driving in my big black car
Nothing can go wrong
I'm going and I don't know how far
So, so long

Maybe I'll sleep in a Holiday Inn

Nothing can hurt me
Nothing can touch me
Why should I care
Driving's a gas
It ain't gonna last

Sunny day, highway
If it rains it's all the same
I can't feel a thing
I can't feel a thing

I've got a big black car

The lights above, oh yes
I see the stars above

Thought this was to be about the grocery store chain. No, it's a band named after the grocery store chain which disbanded after only a couple of years and before probably 75% of this board was born. The outrage!! Where is the respect for esoteric Southern Rock!!!

This one makes Tonight's the Night uplifting

Chilton was not happy about the failure of his brilliant band. The result was this mess of a final album.

Your eyes are almost dead
Can't get out of bed
And you can't sleep
You're sitting down to dress
And you're a mess
You look in the mirror
You look in your eyes
Say you realize
Everybody goes
Leaving those who fall behind
Everybody goes
As far as they can,
They don't just care.
They stood on the stairs
Laughing at your errors
Your mother's dead
She said, "Don't be afraid."
Your mother's dead
You're on your own
She's in her bed
Everybody goes
Leaving those who fall behind
Everybody goes
As far as they can
They don't just care
You're a wasted face
You're a sad-eyed lie
You're a holocaust.

I was checking out a YouTube vid of them a few weeks back and someone commented that Alex Chilton was only 16 in the vid, which seems insane.

I passed on a lot of rock docs, but Searching for Sugar Man was so good that I'll definitely give this one a chance. I love Big Star.

When I saw Son Volt on their first two tours, they covered Holocaust.

I'll be seeing this doc for sure. Thanks for posting.
