1. Life is not fair, get used to it.

2. Be nice to nerds. You might end up working for them.

3. If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss.

4. Your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are.

5. Your school may have done away with winners and losers. Life hasn't.

6. Life is not divided into semesters and you don't get summers off.

7. Television is not real life. In real life people have to actually leave the coffee shops and go to jobs.

8. The world won't care about your self esteem.

9. You will not make $60,000 a year right out of high school.

10. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents called it opportunity.

11. If you're born poor, it is not your fault....but if you die poor, it is your fault.

Bob is now at the point where he is just posting the random (false) email forwards he gets. I think the transformation is complete.

Jesus this is sad. Although I don't disagree with the content...this is pure anti millennial porn, especially given the fact that Gates didn't even write this.

Bob - I've now worked with people from your generation (assume you're a boomer) to Gen X, Gen Y (Millenial) and now Gen Z (don't even ask, your head would explode). Here's the rub - there are good, lazy and entitled people in each one of those generations. It's human nature and has nothing to do with society, technology or whatever other ill you deem as threatening. Your overgeneralization of an entire generation (one that you gave birth to and raised by the way) is just as bad as millenials sitting here thinking they are owed 75k coming straight out of college.

So fucking over this narrative.

This post brings back the thought of someone else whos much smarter than me. This post was making the rounds a few months ago and I could not agree more.

Dear People Older Than Me:

Shut up about the fucking participation trophies. We didn't ask for them. We didn't want them. We didn't cherish them and polish them while thinking about what special, gifted children we are. They were annoying clutter on our shelves that we had to throw out in secret so we wouldn't hurt YOUR feelings. And if we knew back then that you were gonna bring it up every time you disagreed with someone under 40 for the rest of fucking time, we would have told you where to shove that cheap plastic statue.

Sincerely,
People Younger Than Me
