Currie, can you please earn your money and fire both our basketball coaches. PLEASE!

Understand that the men's program is the priority, but I didn't realize this is Jen Hoover's 8th season at WF...

The current record:

100-126 (.443); 30-84 ACC (.263) -- ZERO NCAA appearances. Guess Danny Manning's struggles and the general apathy about women's sports can explain how she returned for an 8th season after winning 26% of her ACC games through seven years without a second thought.

Also, didn't realize that when WF hired Hoover she had been a college head coach for all of ONE season at High Point (which is a low major). Realize Hoover is an alum, but she clearly was not ready to take on a major college job.

Wellman never made a single good hire/fire decision in basketball in his entire career, save for hiring Skip...and Skip wasn't even on his radar, and was delivered to us by Swofford. His one basketball success at Wake is actually attributed to a Tarheel.

In Hoover's defense, she recruited really well at Wake early in her tenure and seemed like she was really close to having a breakthrough year, and then had injuries to all of her best players for several years that derailed any momentum that she had.

Well, John Collins, Doral Moore and Bryant Crawford went pro early and that may have a had an impact on WF's men's record in subsequent seasons. Every program experiences unexpected bumps. In year 7 of the Jen Hoover era, WF women's hoop went 1-15 in the ACC; that is embarrassing. This year (year 8), the WF women have already lost to Charlotte and the UNCG Fighting Wes Millers. Two schools with a fraction of the budget of WF women's basketball and only sign players that WF wasn't interested in. The program is clearly adrift.

I think we should replace her. You have no choice. But she had some really bad luck beyond normal injuries that make it hard to elevate a traditionally bad program.

Look at FH. We were elite and wellman leveled the program after that off the field incident. We have never recovered with the same coach.

Clawson also was forced on him.

Yeah, but at least by someone on his staff. He's done an ok job hiring football, but he did make boneheaded decisions on Grobe post 2006 and had to be talked into Clawson.

I must have missed the Field hockey drama...But I was thinking the other day that the FH team is not competing at the same level as it used to despite having the same coach.
