The Mrs and I are doing a Rhine river cruise this summer. Thinking about spending a few days in Burgundy before we depart Basel. Any suggestions? We're flying into Paris, we've been there before and really want to explore cities/regions that we haven't traveled to, Dijon and Lyon seem like obvious choices. We arrive in Paris on a Saturday and our cruise departs on the following Friday from Basel. Thanks in advance.

If you're open to Beaune, here's a nice way to spend a day. There's a picturesque bike route from Beaune-Pommard-Volnay-Meursault-Puligny Montrachet-Chassagne Montrachet-Santenay. Start in Beaune and pick up a crusty baguette, some hard and soft cheeses (Epoisses), pate, and charcuterie. The ride is easy and goes right through the villages offering access to anything from unpretentious little houses offering amazing tastings to larger well known chateaus and cellars.

Thanks, we were absolutely planning on Beaune. Question: what are your thoughts on a day in Dijon, then Beaune, followed by a couple of days in Lyon?
