Just comes off as a pre-emptive strike to me. . . .so what is he trying to accomplish here? None of that information is new and all it does is reinforce the notion that he has to be the most clueless CEO of an organization this side of ENRON.
Did he know that Blake was so connected to that agent? Probably not. But John Blake did exactly what he wanted him to do, bring high level DT talent to Chapel Hill and given his reputation, Davis was reckless in his supervison of how he accomplished those objectives. For him to say that he didn't know the means to Blake's ends is simply childish and not befitting of a leader.
Screams desperation...like he's trying to get out ahead of whatever comes down in the future. Gotta get hired before the NCAA slaps a show-cause on him?
Agreed. It's a way to get his "story" out there without being subjected to a more rigorous cross examination. It's just not very convincing. It glosses over the allegations with a very broad stroke.
Maybe he is just trying to get the public and the media off of his back regarding his phone records. Personally, I don't think those phone records have anything juicy in them, but his obstinance in releasing them is a little puzzling.
Any chance he knows UNC is going to get hammered and this is his way of trying to keep it fresh in people's minds that he is not to blame (at least according to himself)?
