California - Pension Debacle

This pension stuff is the slowest, most predictable train wreck of all time. And nobody seems to be able to do anything about it.

 
There is actually not a problem here at all. All we need to do is raise our expected rate of return on our existing investments and the problem vanishes. Heck we can even increase our benefits. Sadly that they way these pensions have been treated for many years.
 
What's the made-up excuse, this time (or have we decided to start paying attention to the common denominator yet)?
