Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

This is what a great team does to a mediocre team.

Sounds like Schwarber has negative X-rays. Matt Sczejeijfjfjr can fill in while he is out, along with La Stella in the infield with Bryant shifting to left. That was a scary moment.

By the way....FUCK YOU LACKEY.

That is not how you appease fans that already hate you. Give up three in the first, fail at laying a bunt down, give up an inside the park HR that hurts one of our best players.

Are we sure he isn't still being paid by the Cards?

Guessing Schwarber is out for a month or two - just hope its not a torn ACL or anything.

This likely means we will see either Mendy or Kawasaki called up - wouldn't mind seeing what Mendy can do, but he has looked terribly below average since he blew up AAA in 2014. Something is up, players usually don't regress that bad, I mean, he isn't even hitting in the minors.

Good thing we kept my dude JORGE in order to play the corners

Glad that Schwarbs okay

Just gotta keep mashing. Especially when Lackey is pitching.

It will probably bother him all year and he won't perform well. Cubs fans will blame this injury for their inevitable collapse down the stretch.

Outfield depth is not really a problem - Soler can be plugged in immediately and Baez will be up soon enough.

We'll just take out another Pirate star to make up for it

Ignore Biff. He's just mad that the we've already scored more runs than the Braves will score all season

The only reason you advanced in the playoffs last year.

Kang needs to learn to hop

Speaking of, Harold Reynolds was on MLB last night and said that jumping is how you avoid injury, just like WR that go over the middle, the only WR that get injured by blindside hits are the ones on the ground, the ones in the air just flip and are fine.

Doing an MRI on Schwarber today. No update on the Cubs site. Soler will get to play everyday unless Szczur stays too hot to keep out of the line up. Alcantara or Kawasaki are both on the 40 man roster and seem like the replacement for Schwarber until Baez is ready.

Top five in the batting order are producing runs like Maddon envisioned.

Done for year. F-U to whoever was leading people on that it wasn't serious.

Thank goodness we brought Dex back in to mitigate this a tad (even though he hurt him, but we'll blame Lackey for that)

Schwarber's MRI results: Fully torn ACL and LCL ligaments in the left leg. Severely sprained left ankle. He is done for 2016 season. Kawasaki called up from Iowa. Soler will play LF with Szczur on bench. Baez return delayed by a foul ball off of his face/helmet yesterday.

That sucks - but its not the worst. Soler could put up Schwarber-type numbers if he gets his head in the game.

Nice weekend for the Cubs.

Good home opener test tonight against the also 5-1 Reds. Lester going up against 22 year old Brandon Finnegan. Fangraphs has us at 65%.
