Rebuking Trump’s criticism of ‘Obama judge,’ Chief Justice Roberts defends judiciary as ‘independent’

Any time the Trumpist wing of the country (who purportedly claim to be freedom-loving, self-avowed defenders of the constitution) want to join the rest of us in rebuking the President’s abuse of power and autocratic tendencies...now might be a good time.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. directed a rare and pointed shot at President Trump on Wednesday, defending the federal judiciary in the wake of Trump’s criticism of an “Obama judge” who ruled against the administration’s attempt to bar migrants who cross the border illegally from seeking asylum.

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,” Roberts said in a statement released by the court’s public information office. “What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them.”

The Thanksgiving eve statement added: “That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

Quite the twitter rant Trump is on.

It's gotta be weird being that terrified of the border all the time, is it just people who haven't gotten over 9/11 like my mom?

Roberts is full of shit. Trump just said the quiet part out loud. Roberts and the rest of the GOP have been on a mission to stack the Judicial Branch with Bush judges and then Trump judges.

I wonder what Kavanaugh will say?

Because saying you disagree with a decision and (correctly) predicting it will lead to an influx of anonymous corporate money into politics is the same thing as Trump attacking an entire circuit as being partisan and threatening to break it up and rebuild it with “Trump judges”.
