Also have to remember that X was his alma mater, so that probably played a part.
I get it. My point isn't that we shouldn't look at Mack, it's more that why would he necessarily come to Wake? He obviously has loyalty to Ohio and didn't stay that long at Wake for various reasons. Through 5 full seasons, he is 111-57 at Xavier. Miller was 120–47- not a huge difference there. Xavier has become the launching pad for the blue blood programs. Why go to Wake and have to compete against Pitino, Boeheim, Roy, K, and possibly Calhoun when you could wait a few years and get one of those jobs? There is going to be a huge coaching vacuum in the next few years at the top programs. Wake will never be a blue blood (meaning top 10-15 program) basketball job unless we fall into a K-type situation and get a genius in his 30's- it just ain't happening. Mack would be better off waiting for Calipari to get Kentucky on probation and take that one. Also, Crean isn't exactly blowing it out of the water at IU- only slightly over .500 in 6 full seasons. There will be be a lot of blue blood jobs available in the next few years.
