I am creating a new thread for posterity. Christopher Rufo has proven to be very effective and influential in determining the direction of the national Conservative social platform. This statement may be nothing, or it may come to pass exactly as he prescribes.

Trying to think of a 2-3 words that might be apt…

[dishonest…wicked…destructive…?]

guy tweets his playbook yet the “liberal” media falls for it hook line and sinker yet continue to give him a platform
I don’t think it’s necessarily correct to blame major media here. If the national Republican Party decides on a platform and messaging campaign for all of their politicians and candidates to use, and this trickles down to state and local levels, how is that the media’s responsibility? Is it a realistic expectation that the media stop giving coverage to Republicans just because liberals disagree with their message?

Major media don't have to cover it as an honest platform or a simple misunderstanding. They should cover it as a political strategy to mislead voters and further divide the country to benefit a broader Republican agenda to delegitimize the government to make it easier to hoard wealth.

Media can give context to what Republicans say. Call them on their bullshit.

Rufo is a dangerous dude, even compared to other right-wing activists. He reads nearly everything critical written about him by liberal sources and is very aggressive in writing rebuttals in which he calls them liars and then demands retractions and public apologies and threatens lawsuits, and he's succeeded in getting some liberal websites, like The Daily Beast, to issue retractions in their articles criticizing him (he then promptly brags about this on conservative websites, thus enhancing his reputation as a successful culture warrior). He's also apparently an admirer of Viktor Orban and what he's done in Hungary in driving liberals and progressives out of universities (even private ones) and in driving LGBTQ people back into the closet - Orban calls it "illiberal democracy."
