Truman ran against the Do Nothing Congress.

If the Congressional Dems had any brains or balls, they would run on the fact that the House has passed fewer bills in each of the last two years than at any time in over a hundred years and most likely ever. Further, they will only be working 15 days from now until the end of the year. They have worked fewer days over the past four years than at any time in history.

People in many states will easily understand,"You have to work for your pay. Why doesn't your Congressman?"

"All they do is fight, is that why you elected him?"

Once again, I don't expect the Dems to do this. But it is something easy enough for the public to understand and be successful.

The situation was slightly different then. Republicans had a majority in both chambers in the 80th Congress, which they used to both oppose most of Truman's legislative agenda, and also to successfully pass their own pro-business agenda. So the 80th Congress was more of a "Did nothing that Democrats wanted" Congress.

The current Congress just truly is the "Do Nothing" Congress. Not only are the Republicans in this Congress hilariously obstructionist, but they can't pass any of their own shit either. They truly have rendered this Congress useless.

They can channel whatever they want but they can't run from this clusterfuck

The Dems are more likely to be the anti-Truman in 2014. For them to have a chance, the buck needs to stop waaaaaaay over there.
