You can, and it is the dumbest rule in sports. It encourages players to ignore the whistle.
 
And why the fuck do you not punt that out of bounds. I think that's a 10 yard punt.

THROW A FUCKING JUMP BALL, DO LITERALLY ANYTHING OTHER THAN KICK INTO THE ENDZONE
 
Is this broadcaster slow? He cant figure out why that wasnt a fumble? The whistle was blown before the ball was recovered. And then he doubles down with the "they are about to lose up to 30 yards or more." I mean, maybe, but its pretty hard to pin them inside the 3 from the 33. Most likely it was going to be a touchback, obviously, and it was. Not sure why he didnt try to kick that oob instead of straight up and down.
 
Maggio never kicks it out of bounds and gets a ton of touchbacks.....is that on purpose?!?!?
 
The game plan seems designed to keep Duke in the game. Maybe Clawson is convinced the receivers can't get open or catch the pass if they do get open.
 
That sequence unfortunately showed why Sciba and Maggio shouldn't be on their respective watch lists. Clawson doesn't let Sciba kick long FGs and Maggio can't put the ball on the 10 like a punter is supposed to do.
 
Impressive job by Newman standing in there. Line looks very bad so far.
