What the hell happened to them? They are so bad. Have really gone downhill…

I miss Kenny Mayne!

And while we’re at it, what happened to The Bear on College GameDay? Stanford Steve now taking over? Or is the Bear just sick?

The internet happened so shows like Sportscenter were not relevant anymore for daily highlights.

Instead, it went the cable-news route of arguing about any hot-button issue. And get two guys on the opposite side. So it became more like a WWE star cutting a promo, or bad 90s talk show vibe.

Guys like Stephen A saw this and took massive advantage to grow their own "brand" in a way that wasn't possible before. It's so over the top, even the viewer is sort of in on the bit and wants to see what his new rant will be.

So instead of clever quips during a run-of-the-mill sports highlight reel, you can build an entire baby face/heel angle on TV and play that up across your entire social media platform as well. Do bits that you know are going to get attention across all of them, they don't even have to really relate to anything about a particular game's outcome, statistics, etc.

If you don't play this game, you are largely ignored.

ESPN pioneered that format with the Sports Reporters then PTI.

not an anchor, but corso is tough to watch even with less air time on gameday. please retire, lee.

“We need to get the kids to watch let’s get Pat McCaffee, he doesn’t wear sleeves!”

“People love tradition let’s trot out Lee Corso and Joe Namath in their 80s!”

Why is ESPN still losing money, can’t figure it out.

It’s truly cringe when they think they’re funny and feel duty bound to maintain the comic legacy of some of the past greats, and it’s just forced.

ESPN isn't losing money. Just not making as much. Other parts of Disney not making money.
