The article from which the quote comes from is about him dealing with criticism. Specifically in the article this immediately proceeds the offending quote:
He then goes on a tirade not dissing Colorado, but basically calling the media stupid for only looking at wins and losses. The Colorado AD then backs Bz up in that regard right after the quote:
Again, it wasn't a smart quote, but he wasn't saying he regretted taking that job at all.
It's not just anger. Some are plain dumbfounded by Wellman's decision.
"When Wellman surprised fans by dumping Gaudio a few weeks after a season in which Wake Forest faded late but still made the second round of the NCAA tournament, the assumption was he had to have a splashy replacement in mind,'' Jeff Eisenberg wrote at rivals.com. "If that man is [Redacted], Wake Forest fans are going to be very disappointed.''
That was typical of the criticism. But [Redacted], 57, offers no apologies for his record at Colorado. He considers it an accomplishment given the team he took over in 2007.
He then goes on a tirade not dissing Colorado, but basically calling the media stupid for only looking at wins and losses. The Colorado AD then backs Bz up in that regard right after the quote:
[Redacted] has supporters. Among them is Mike Bohn, athletic director at Colorado.
"He inherited a program that really had lost its way and Jeff steered it back the right way,'' Bohn said, "and college basketball at the University of Colorado is extremely healthy and with a bright future due to Jeff [Redacted] here.''
Again, it wasn't a smart quote, but he wasn't saying he regretted taking that job at all.
