I actually think Tuffalo's right. Even the worst penalty kill team in the NHL successfully kills a penalty 75% of the time, and if they successfully kill it, most fans forget the bad call pretty quickly because it didn't yield unjust effects beyond the call itself.

Meanwhile, in the NFL a bad call can immediately sustain a drive - there's no chance at all for a team to "kill" that penalty. In basketball, players that get sent to the line usually convert free throws.
