By way of example, here are a few government programs and policies that I oppose because they do not conform to the proper role of government, yet I participate in them: I am against marriage licenses, but I still got one to get married; I am against the foster care program, but I became a foster parent; I am against property taxes, but I own property and pay the tax; I am against federal ownership of land by the Forest Service and BLM, but I use the land for hiking, backpacking, camping, and fishing; I am against national parks, but I visit them; I am against driver's licenses, vehicle registration, license plates, and mandated liability insurance, but I comply with all of them to drive; I am against public funding of transportation systems, but I still use them; I am against building permits, fees, and inspections, but I get them as needed; I am against public libraries, but my family uses them; I am against public schools, but I occasionally use their facilities; I am against occupational licensing, but I use the services of individuals and companies that comply with those requirements; I am against USDA inspections, but I still use products that carry their label; I am against the Uniform Commercial Code and designated legal business entities such as corporations, but I use the services of such entities and have set up several of them for myself; I am against the current structure of our judicial system and courts, but I still use them; I am against the 17th Amendment, but I still cast my vote for Senators; and the list could go on and on.

Actually, they probably could. Impeachment is just a majority vote of the House. As far as I can tell, there is no requirement that impeachment charges be factual. BUt the idiocy of the strategy is that impeachment (indictment) by the House would lead to a trial in the Senate. Obama would be immediately (and correctly) exonerated by the Senate. Partisan impeachment only has the slimmest chance of winning if your party controls both houses of Congress. And Republicans couldn't even pull that off in 90s (when, all things considered, the case against Clinton was stronger than any case against Obama). Impeachment makes absolutely no sense just on the mechanics of it.

There hasn’t been one in what…almost 20 years? What body…or WHO appropriated funds for that? Are you saying they had them readily available and dusted them off from when the shutdown happened almost 20 years ago?

Anyone that knows (or works with) the government knows that is downright impossible. I say that as government requires businesses, including what they deem small businesses, compete for a contract to be awarded business. Someone had to receive the contract to make and print those signs. Have you seen one? They’re like 3 feet across! How was that achieved in mere hours? It can’t happen (and I say that as someone who has been involved on that side of the business, as we’ve pursued government contracts with the xxxx brand for years – the process is quite cumbersome).

I say this as, to me, it’s quite clear there are powers at play that none of us understand as someone or some specific body or bodies HAS to be planning something greater than we truly know…otherwise, how was this done?

Just food for thought to think on…and truly think on. It’s kind of scary when you truly think about it. How did it happen? Something so simple and mundane…but easily overlooked.

America will pay for this administration's decisions, in more than one way, for a very long time:( All I can say is, "Teach your children to not a be a slave to the lender".
 
Sad but true. Had enough of this. But what can you do. Pray very hard for next election time if we survive that long.

It is absolutely shocking that Republicans want to blame Obama for the debt. I would be the first person to say he has not done anything to help the problem (the opposite, in fact) but the total hypocrisy in outrage by run of the mill Republicans is ridiculous. Where was their outrage when there was a (white) Republican exploding the Fed debt?

Bush to name one. Perhaps I am too sensitive bit I don't think there would be as much passion about this debt was racked up by John Kerry.

If a big chunk of it hadn't been run up on the death and destruction of two wars, people wouldn't care so much about it. If they had spent a few trillion on schools instead of blowing up Iraq and Afghanistan, it'd be a totally different situation.
