Field House dedication

No. It's more like refusing to buy an iPhone 6 knowing the iPhone 7 is coming out soon.

Wake should have just gone ahead and built a moon station football field because it's where we are headed, but even that would be pointless because FSU will be on Jupiter soon.

we field walkie-talkie teams, while our sports management enjoys iPhone luxury toys

Just out of curiosity, how clever did this sound in your head?

Did anyone else receive the email stating all future facility improvements must first be approved by the USF Sociology department?

Seems like this is just expensive lipstick on pig if the coaches don't have the full support of the Administration.

He doesn't know. It's just a lot easier to be negative than positive.

First, I've discussed this before. Here are the two best places to look:

My basic argument is that we are behind, so why not try to get ahead? Indoor practice facilities are common. Hell, Dartmouth recently announced that their indoor practice facility will break ground this year and open next year.

Spend money to improve the basics like training and weight room facilities. Improve the recruiting budgets as needed. Prepare for the future of college athletics. I think within 10 years, NCAA programs will be allowed to compensate athletes. Wake needs to be ready for that. Once that happens, athletes are going to show up on campus and see the indoor practice facility and say "That's nice and all but am I going to get paid? Duke is offering me a stipend. Can you offer me one?"

Second, Pilch needs to get out of here with this "negative" crap. Your MO over the last few months is to post these long critiques of our athletic department that are essentially the same things you criticized me for saying 5+ years ago. It's "negative" until it happens and you realize it happened. Now it's "analysis."

No. This is the most PhDeacest answer ever.

Good god, this facility is a disaster ! And a disgrace ! Fire Wellman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The indoor practice facility does exactly that. It improves our training capabilities significantly, and the weight room was instantly expanded by moving it into the indoor practice facility. The long term goal is to build the sports performance center, but in the short term the indoor practice facility has been a smart, multipurpose investment in the football program. It's not like we built mini-golf, laser tag, and beach volleyball - we built a really nice training facility and expanded our weight room.

Indoor facility is like power windows at this point. It may not be as sexy, but no mater how nice the rest of the car is, not having power windows is not going to help you sell the car.

Outside of BC and Syracuse, from an actual practical use standpoint an indoor practice facility makes more sense at Dartmouth than the rest of the ACC combined.

Do we still have an outdoor practice facility with natural turf?

I seem to recall lots of practice time lost last Spring and Summer due to bad weather. Obviously this makes practices more consistent and predictable. But I suspect we will still have a few games on natural turf and in bad weather. It's hard to prepare for that in a perfect climate and on a perfect field.
