I agree with this. Trump carries for the torch for policies with which a lot of people agree, so they look the other way and ignore what a complete assclown he is.

Basically they fully expect a legal challenge to trying to compel Mcgahn and other Trump cronies to testify. They can't even get them to answer a congressional subpoena and obviously would run into the same issue with impeachment proceedings.

Rather than start proceedings and then have them stall while these issues play out in court, it sounds like Schiff thinks the courts should resolve the subpoena issues first before commencing the impeachment process. An impeachment process without Mcgahn would be DOA and come off terribly for democrats.

Yeah, it does get old hearing that all the blame lies with Fox or Limbaugh or O'Reilly or Hannity, or with Nixon for starting the Southern Strategy, or with Reagan, or Roger Ailes, or some right-wing person or organization for misleading and brainwashing their supporters. The real problem is that vast numbers of Americans - literally tens of millions of people - still have the same views on race, gender roles and equality, gay rights, etc. that people in the 1950s or 1920s or whenever did. They've just learned to hide it somewhat better, but since Trump's election, many of them now feel that they don't even need to do that anymore. They not only have deplorable views on how their fellow citizens should be treated, but they're openly proud about it - and wear the t-shirts to advertise it ("I'm a Deplorable!")
 
It’s also on states and largely evangelical lobbyists for tanking public education in our country. There is a direct correlation between level of education and how much you suckle at the teat of Trumpism. Conservatives are scared of an educated population because it’d be much more likely to see through their bullshit. So kill funding for arts and physical education in schools, kill funding for advanced classes, refuse to allow comprehensive sex education, then scream and bitch and moan about the sciences until your snowflake religious beliefs get equal time in the classroom. Keep your younger generation dumb, pregnant, and beholden to God, then tell them it’s because liberal elites and dirty Mexicans that their lot in life sucks. That’s how you win elections.

Donald Trump is quoted many times sneering at evangelicals and their lockstep willingness to believe whatever he says.
“I love the poorly educated” - does “poorly educated” sound like a positive thing or a condescending rephrase of “stupid”
“I could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue...” news flash, he’s calling you stupid sheep willing to overlook even obviously awful things

Yep. That's why he has such a love-hate relationship with CNN and the NY Times and Washington Post and big-city media outlets. Underneath all that bluster he craves the respect of liberal elites. But since they won't give it to him, he lashes back with twitter attacks and is forced rely on his mostly rural and suburban rube base. He loves their adulation, but privately regards them with at least as much condescension, contempt and snobbery that the hated "coastal elites" supposedly have for them. But they love him all the same.

You don’t see Trump hotels in rural areas or even many red cities. They could have cashed in big time with lower tier market discount Trump hotels and they didn’t even do that. Could have created jobs for the rubes and made money off them.
