GATOR BOWL VS TEXAS A&M, psyche RUTGERS

Big scramble there by Sam on 3rd down. I thought he was dead to rights. Some nice snags by our receivers in this half too.

Next time Smenda should just plow through the QB's chest in this scenario & increase the QB's injury risk exponentially. Sure, he'll get a 15 yard penalty still but at least he won't get kicked out of the game for trying to avoid contact.

Just made this same comment. Complete bullshit that him jumping over the QB to avoid contact and his elbow unintentionally grazing the QB’s helmet results in targeting vs. spearing him on the ground and breaking a rib would just be a late hit on the QB.

This is a terrible take. He literally tried to jump over the guy and NOT hit him and his lower arm grazed the top of his head.

There has to be some room given to a player in motion who goes out of his way to not hit the QB.

Yeah, he pretty much slid into his arm. Given the time he had to react, which was about a quarter of a second, only a bit more athleticism to get higher could've kept him from not hitting the QB.

So y’all can sit basically front row 50 yard line if you want, right?

Dude had 2 handfuls of Hartman’s jersey and he still got out and scrambled for 35. Then 2 perfect throws. Money.

he may or may not have tried to not hit him (hard to give smenda the benefit of the doubt, but not relevant either way) but he did hit him. miles fox didn’t mean to face mask the rutgers QB in the first half but he did and the penalty was called.

i’m probably in the rare minority of folks who like the targeting rule because i think it’s necessary for football to be viable in the future and keeping players from getting hit in the head (regardless of intent) is a big part of it. defensive players will adjust just like they have to all other rule changes.

LOOK AT OUR WHOLE FUCKING TEAM OUT THERE. GO DEACS. WHAT AN AWESOME UNIVERSITY.
