When I was in grad school, my wife wrote to Senator Helms protesting his stance on an issue. She got a form letter back, thanking her for her support and asking for money. She wrote another letter reiterating her views and protesting Helms'response. She got the same response back. We showed the exchange to friends, everyone thought it was hilarious.

My dad once wrote a protest letter to President Ford. He never got a response.
