Impeachment: The Sequel

Basically. I think we all know Trump’s legal strategy is going to be written on OAN, new Parler, Reddit, and National Review. All someone needs to do is repeat it on the Senate floor.

So we have a major political party whose leader is on his unprecedented second Senate trial after being impeached twice by the House for serious offenses, and pretty much his entire legal team has quit because he's guilty as hell and they don't want to defend him, and yet his party is almost certainly going to let him off the hook and fail to convict him in the Senate for a second time, despite his obvious guilt. They're like a family that has a raging drunk, liar, and criminal member living in the house, and yet they deny that reality to outsiders and constantly enable said family member and prop him up and support him eagerly, even if they have to become lawbreakers themselves to do it.

Like a crime family. They were like a crime family before Trump. They just needed a boss.

I mean, why does Trump even need lawyers for this? Let the house managers do their part, then have Trump himself give a word salad non sense diatribe and the same 45 senators will acquit no matter what.

Yep...seems a formality at this point.

It will be some variant of “whatabout the Democrats?”

Gym, Gohmert, Nunes and Gaetz would be more than happy to go along with that

Expect Rudy Guiliani, Sidney Powel and Lin Wood to sign on counsel any minute now.*

*unless he owes them for the "stop the steal" tour appearances.

"Unless"?

The question isn't IF he owes them money. It's HOW MUCH.

Let's put this in perspective. Butch Bowers defended Mark Sanford leaving his post as Governor of SC, lying about it and carrying on an affair while he is governor and married. That's a pretty low bar to get over, but B owers didn't hesitate for a second to quit on Trump.

regarding impeachment trial, Attorney Josh Howard says, "It's crazy, man"

Good point. But you don’t sign up to work for Trump if you expect to get paid on time either.

You don’t sign on to do it in the first place if you have principles. This is about getting paid up front, and trump being a deadbeat not paying anyone.

Those lawyers don’t need Trump’s money, and the exposure would be worth more than he would pay them anyway. They withdrew over the arguments they were being asked to make.
