He’ll still sit court side at Los Angeles Lakers’ games, but Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson has quietly retired from the movie business, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

The 76-year-old icon has no plans to appear in films again after a career spanning five decades.

“Jack has — without fanfare — retired,” a well-placed Hollywood film insider confirmed to Radar.

“There is a simple reason behind his decision — it’s memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him.

“His memory isn’t what it used to be.”

The three-time Academy Award winner has not worked since How Do You Know in 2010 starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson.

Sad news. He's only done five movies in the last 10 years (How Do You Know, The Bucket List, The Departed, Something's Gotta Give, and About Schmidt) but in his prime, he was pretty damn badass. Researching that list made me want to watch About Schmidt again...what a great movie.

Who would have thought 50+ years of pot, coke and other fun stuff would lead to memory loss. :)

Thanks for all your good work Jack.

His last movie was in 2010. He's basically been retired since then. His last great movie- The Departed!

Absolutely killed it in As Good As It Gets - always end up watching that when it's on, despite Helen Hunt's ratface.

Nice tits, though. And agree on Nicholson as Melvin. "How do you write women so well?" Melvin- "I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability. " Classic.

Hunter Thompson wrote one of the most hysterical stories about going to his neighbor Nicholson's place in Colorado to celebrate Nicholson's birthday. It's in Kingdom of Fear and is insanely hysterical, though Jack didn't appreciate it at the time...

Has Jack ever received a lifetime achievement award? Surely, he's got to be a shoe-in for one.

"Dear, Ndugu" - one of Jack's best movies.
