Laptop Help: HDMI Port Issues

The signal to my projector via HDMI from my HP Pavilion dv7 worked great for 2 years. Recently it has started cutting in and out when connected via HDMI. Works perfectly via VGA.

I have replaced the cables. I have tried connecting to multiple displays and I believe it is in fact the port that is funky. Any ideas?

The port on your laptop or the port on the projector?

If you have a mini display port on whichever piece of equipment has the bad port, you can get a Mini-display port to HDMI converter (around ~$10). You shouldn't lose any noticeable quality in brightness or the picture.

On the laptop. And the laptop only has VGA and HDMI outputs.
