A year ago, Zalatoris was 487th in the World after finishing 26th in the LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour (the KFT) in February 2020. The KFT and PGA tour took a three month break due to the pandemic.
Since golf returned, Zalatoris has played in 26 KFT, PGA and USGA events. He has made 25 cuts, finished in the top 10 thirteen times (which is crazy), including a tie for 6th in the US Open at Wingfoot, and yesterday's 2nd place finish in the Masters.
Zalatoris is now the #27 player in the world; yet, he technically doesn't have his PGA Tour card. Not sure if that means he won't be eligible to play in the next major, the PGA Championship, which is scheduled for next month in Kiawah. Would be really dumb for a top 30 player in the world, who just finished 2nd in the Masters and 6th in the US Open to not be eligible for the PGA Championship.
