Miami @ VT - ACCT seeding game for Wake

Dinos had his very short stretch of this - 6/6 vs LSU

Of course if you have a guy going 7-8 from 3 you'd hope you have more than a 4 point lead.

Seems to be quite a few empty seats the stadium.

Good teams can withstand one guy having a monster game against them. Bad teams can't. Even good teams will lose if multiple players on the other team have monster games like that. That was the Virginia philosophy against the Tim Duncan Wake teams. Let Tim get his. Make the rest of Wake's players really have to work to help him out.

Normally I'd be bad they had 5 days between games and playing at home and we have 3 including game day, but here's hoping the longer layoff cools off their three point shooting.

I have a feeling VT spreads us out and just throttles us from outside. We don't defend the 3 particularly well

VT starting 5 scoring... 4,5,6,7....24.

Seth Allen will kill us off the dribble. We're going to need B Chill to guard him to have any shot.

Well we'll be playing on Tuesday but maybe VT will play a little more lax knowing they're definitely in the tournament at this point.

Their two leading scorers on the season aren't starters, which is interesting. And they are only 7 deep now.

Maybe that's part of how they can lead the ACC in field goal percentage and 3 point percentage, be top 5 in assists and points per game, and still be dead in the middle of the ACC standings...

This.

Not sure this is the worst outcome. Hopefully playing BC is the same as a bye. It should be if we show up at all.

And now we should easily be the more desperate team on Saturday, and a win over VT would for sure be an RPI Top 50 win. And they're way past overdue to lose a close one.

Let's do this Deacs

Seth Allen will kill us off the dribble. We're going to need B Chill to guard him to have any shot.

Seth Allen is a fifth year senior who transferred from Maryland. He is a handful for anyone trying to guard him.

Ty Outlaw in the zone the last 4 games:

20 for 26 from 3 77% from 3; 3 for 6 from 2 50%; 1 for 2 from the line 50%

In his previous 25 games:

25 for 67 from 3 37%; 8 for 18 from 2 44%; 5 for 6 from the line 83%

BTW, Outlaw started his college career at UNC-G, playing for the greatest coach in the history of the world. As a freshman in 2014, Outlaw averaged 5 ppg.

To be fair, he was averaging 5 PPG before last night too.

Hopefully he comes back down to earth on Saturday.

Seems to be quite a few empty seats the stadium.

The empty seats you saw in the corner and behind the UM bench are allocated to the visiting team. Not an easy trip from South Beach to Blacksburg on a Monday. They should be fuller on Saturday.

With Wake's seeding a near certainty, the ACC tournament for Wake comes down to two things that matter for getting into the NCAA tournament A. Getting wins over ranked teams, that is getting a "signature win or wins" or B. Winning it all and getting the automatic bid. Doing B is such a low percentage likelihood that it is unrealistic. Thus the tournament is all about getting signature wins. That is why playing a bad team on day 1 is not helpful, and it leaves the team just a little more tired for their day 2 opponent who will not have played day 1.

Win it all and there will be signature wins on the resume.
