Baseball has Kobe/LBJ-esque stars, but they're no longer the best players in the sport. Jeter and ARod are superstars. Manny Ramirez was a superstar. Most of the late 90s, early 00s monsters were superstars. I think of the question more as "Would an out-of-market non-sports fan recognize this person on the street in normal clothes?" I think Puig is just about there, probably Miggy and Verlander, too. Maybe, like, Matt Kemp, too.

kemp was there 4sure. dating ri-ri, crushing the ball, etc. we'll see if his second half performance carries over in to the playoffs and next year to bring him back.
