Pretty cool stuff. So much of that art (expansive set design, elaborate costuming, miniatures, backdrops, etc.). I think each progression of movie special effects makes the work of the previous generations that much more impressive.

Agreed. Many modern movies struggle to do older movies did with models and lighting.

Its interesting to see the kind of detail and effort that went into models, etc. On the other hand, movies like Jurassic Park and Terminator 2, which blazed the CGI trail, would've looked like shit with stop motion, etc.

Jurassic park still used some stop motion, but you're right.
