NBA Lockout Thread

Lawyers from both sides talking again to salvage a season in next few days. If they come to an agreement within a week they could get a Christmas start and 66 game season.

That would work.

The Christmas games every year are huge ratings... the pressure is mounting on Stern from the networks to cobble together something in time to get those in. Owners and networks don't even want a 1999ish 50 game season that starts in January. At that point worth it to just stick it to the players.

It is true and it is because the player's union disbanded in order to bring an antitrust suit against the NBA. Legally union can no longer negotiate, so his role is no longer clear. Hunter and players lawyers are talking with NBA.

I personally miss the NBA. This really sucks for Tim Duncan. His career window is closing and I really want to see another great season out of him.

It would be really bad for him to miss the season but it would be really good for him and the Spurs to have the shortened season.

This is true. It worked out pretty well for the Spurs the last time the NBA had a shortened season.
