Was just browsing the NC ABC price list and was kind of surprised by how many local offerings there are - 10 whiskies, a dozen rums, and an asston of moonshine. Does anyone drink moonshine as anything other than a novelty?

Have you tried anything from these places? There's a dearth of reviews on the interwebs.

And yet we still can't buy liquor on Sundays, or any alcohol before Noon.

I like Sutler's Gin.

I've been to Asheville distilling. They actually have some aged whiskies, as opposed to the white dog "moonshine" these other places might roll out. Having said that, it wasn't very good.

What's the name of the place in the building where the Porch is? That place was decent

can you buy booze directly from them? or just at an ABC store. you can buy direct at VA distilleries.

Sutlers distillery. Quite good gin imo. I think you can now do a tasting there and maybe buy product.

Hoots is the bar.

Hoots is part-owned by the father of a girl who was on my freshman hall at Wake, so there's Deacon connections there. Was one of my favorite spots when I lived in Winston.

Broad Branch Distillery is located across from Mary's off Trade in W-S. The product I tried was a bit...rustic, shall we say.

Obligatory plug for Kill Devil Rum from Outer Banks Distilling. Great tour, great distillery, great run. They have a white rum and a honey pecan flavored rum. Good stuff

Picked up some of this, it's like liquid apple pie, kind of weird, but would work well in ciders and such.
