Was sent this info from someone close to the source who asked that it be shared w/ the boards, thought some of y'all might find it interesting since Dr. Hearn was such a huge part of WFU history.
When Dr. Hearn died in 2008, he was working on a book of essays entitled "Leaves from a Presidents Notebook". The Center for Creative Leadership and the Hearn family recently collaborated to finish and publish the book. Several of the essays discuss college athletics. During his tenure, Hearn lead the efforts to expand the ACC, represented the ACC on the NCAA Presidents Council, and Chaired the Knight Commission on Intercollegate Athletics. During the early 1990s, Sports Illustrated named him one of the top 50 most powerful figures in College Sports.
Some members of this board may be interested in this book. All proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to Greensboro-based Center for Creative Leadership.
