"Among consistent conservatives, 88% said they trusted Fox News, 62% said they trusted Sean Hannity's radio show, 58% said they trusted Rush Limbaugh's show, and 51% said they trusted Glenn Beck's. Those were the only sources that were said to be trusted by a majority of consistent-conservative respondents. (And Pew said that each radio show had "a much narrower audience reach overall than Fox News.")

Not surprisingly, 81% of consistent liberals said they distrusted Fox.

That same group, consistent liberals, gave NPR high marks -- with 72% saying they trust the public radio organization -- along with PBS (71%), the BBC (69%), The New York Times (62%), and NBC News (56%).

CNN, ABC News, MSNBC, and CBS News were also deemed trustworthy by more than 50% of consistent liberals.
What about the political middle? The results landed closer to the liberal side than the conservative side. CNN, which operates this website, was No. 1 among Americans with mixed political views, earning the trust of 61%; the news divisions of ABC, NBC and CBS also surpassed 50%."

Where does Al Jazeera rank on the liberal list?

Al Jazeera America is in a difficult spot: The name of the one-year-old cable channel, a spin-off of Al Jazeera English, was only recognized by 42% of respondents. Other outlets with relatively low levels of public awareness: The Guardian, with 36%; Politico, with 32%; and BuzzFeed, with 31%.

Not really on the radar.

This seems to back DF07's chart. Conservatives don't seem to trust much at all.

When your point of view doesn't mesh with facts and reporting and you're fed decades of "mainstream media..."

This reflects my experiences on a day-to-day basis to be honest. Not really trying to throw conservatives under the bus, but most of the right-wingers I know don't trust anything: science, education, "mainstream" media - but if they get a chance to really get going about the latest information from Fox News then it's on like Donkey Kong.

The only reason there may be a mainstream liberal bias is because there's a societal "bias" towards being liberal in the first place.

Yep. Society continues to get more and more liberal over time.

The real loser here is the Wall Street Journal. Conservatives will abandon it in droves if they find out liberals trust it. Of course, no way Fox News reports that liberals trust WSJ, so conservatives won't find out.

You're wrong. A recent Pew study actually found that conservatives are more well-informed.

Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey, as is typically the case in surveys about political knowledge. The largest gaps are in awareness of which party is more supportive of reducing the size and scope of the federal government (30 points) and which party is more conservative (28 points).

Republicans also are 21 percentage points more likely than Democrats to know that the GOP is more supportive of drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
