Nigerian man survives three days 100 feet underwater after boat sinks

Survivors in air pockets of sunken ships happened a lot in World War II. Usually they weren't able to get those guys out, but they did manage to rescue a good number of them after Pearl Harbor because the ships went down in relatively shallow water.

“But when he went to grab the hand, the hand grabbed him!” Tony Walker, project manager for the Dutch company DCN Diving, said of the rescue in May.

and THIS is why I will never, ever be a S&R diver.

Can you imagine what was going through his mind for the last 72 hours. I'm surprised he's not crazy..

My favorite part of the exchange:

Diver: "What's your rank?"
Trapped Man: "I'm the cook"
Diver: "Oh the cook, they always survive don't they?"

Fucking priceless.
