Given Sandy, this is just the sort of boost that AC could use to help get back on its feet. I for one would be much more interested in going if there were sports books. Seems less likely that the pro leagues and NCAA will make a stink now, or am I fooling myself?

sifting through the madness for the word, the line, the way eh?

I would fucking love it.... and yes, its needed. AC has been struggling for a while especially with a half dozen casino's openig up in Philly and suburbs. I big huge MGM would be awesome and certainly help...

It's coming. NCAA already has pulled scheduled championship events for 2013 out of the state. I've talked to officials at NJ schools who are just resigned to the new reality, that they'll never be able to host that stuff again. Although someone made the point that if the NCAA keeps up its stance then in 25 years only Utah will be allowed to host its events, and that's a valid point. But, bottom line, sports betting is coming no matter what the pro leagues and NCAA say.

Dutch, you're a scumbag. People have lost everything. I heard a woman today say she lost her home and two cars. Others lost precious pictures of deceased loved ones. Small businesses are facing huge financial losses. But, hey, let's joke about how everyone in New Jersey looks and acts like the eight idiots (Rhode Islanders and New Yorkers, mostly) on a stupid MTV show.

I'm pretty sure people were talking shit about New Jersey before this week and before Jersey Shore ruled the airwaves. Still, pretty bad form by Dutch.

Full disclosure; I made plenty of NJ remarks before landfall (but my grandparents used to live in NJ and my brother-in-law was born there, so it's okay).

Freak: sorry for my late reply but the garbage I was referring to were the New Jersey gambling dens. I stand with my original statement.

Las Vegas hosts a bowl game, and a ton of NCAA conference basketball tournaments (not mention NBA and MLB exhibition games). Other than the lack of an occasional NCAA tourney regional, what exactly is NJ losing?
