Coaches rarely reach outside of their circles to bring in assistants, but this time it worked out great for Michigan / Beilien.

For the last four years this guy has been serving as an assistant coach at Illinois State under a guy Beilien knew, so its not really that strange of a hire. What is the real story is that Beilien was looking for an assistant specifically to improve the defense.
