Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

meh, taking a one-year contract at a 50% higher annual rate at the age of 29 with a weak FA next summer is a pretty rational move

Wow. If I am understanding the basics of the Kawhi deal. My favorite NBA player on the autism spectrum did the following:

1. Won a championship and lingered and partied with his teammates - including going to Vegas with them - while other FAs were scrambling to sign $30mil deals
2. Agreed to meet with the Lakers but moved the meeting last minute to be a few minutes away from Paul George.
3. Met with George and told him if he orchestrated a deal to the Clippers, he'd sign his max money 4-year deal.
4. Waits for George to do just that and then in true Kawhi cold-blooded form, recalibrates his contract to 3 years with the last year a player option, essentially making this a 2-yr deal.

In the meantime, Clippers have given up all their picks for the next five years on the assumption they have both Kawhi and George in the fold. In reality, they have George for 3 and Kawhi for 2. Cold blooded.

AND

Kawhi won titles with Tim Duncan as last line of defense and Marc Gasol still a solid defender at Center.

Now he’s got a very good PF, but undersized C and always looks exhausted trying to play undersized Center, Montrezl Harrell, another PF who showed he is not a Center, Jamychal Green, and Zubac as post defenders, defensive rebounders.

We shall see...it might work.

I think it is 10 million versus about 13.5 million, now, after taxes. Knicks offering 14.8 M.

Factor in cost of living, sitting out a lot of DNP as the Knicks will be out of it by January 10, Portis will keep getting better, and Dolan drama...

But I do agree with you - that’s still significant cash and he’s gonna sign with the Knicks.

And Pop will be angry as Bertans and Carroll were executed specifically to get Morris.

This will make Lebron happy, too. Which is what really matters!

That seems to shut the door on CP3 ever getting a ring.

Window was closing anyway... But sucks for CP3.

Wow.

CP3 officially just super expensive scraps.

That Houston offense is gonna be...something.

OKC has like 30 draft picks over the next 8 years.

They could try and dump him? They acquired so many picks.

Jesus this offseason.

Is Chris Paul that much worse than Westbrook that you gotta give up 4 picks/swaps AND take on Russ's extra year?

No. But Westbrook's is the only guy outside kyrie or Durant who can get the ball from harden or teammates

Lebron has to be mad he didn’t wait for this.

Lakers would have to wait until mid December to match up salaries for Paul if they even wanted to. Miami is a possibility, a buyout seems highly unlikely unless CP forfeits alot.

well, four years in age is a factor too

gut says CP3 never plays for OKC

are pick swaps movable #assets?
