Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

palma finds NBA twitter

LOL. You can make a strong argument that the Sixers are good despite bad front office moves like trading Philly native and Nova player Bridges and making his poor Sixers employee mom sad to ruin a truly great NBA draft moment.

The front office years between the end of Hinkie and the beginning of Morey are pretty dark, aside from a couple astute moves.

Looks like the Thunder have the 2021 Heat pick.

The player the Sixers got for Bridges was Zhaire Smith. He only played 15 games and is in the D-League.

There’s a little more to the Zhaire story than this but yea a pretty dumb trade in retrospect

I remember a couple seasons back jaybone asking about Zhaire vs Matisse in fantasy and weighing in to say Matisse was more NBA ready but only really projecting to be a defensive specialist, but Zhaire having a higher long term ceiling. Doubt Zhaire ever plays in the league again, OOPS

Mikal Bridges redshirted his freshman year at Villanova.

He was a role player as redshirt frosh (he was 7th in minutes and averaged 6 ppg), on a team that won the Natty. As a RS soph, Bridges played a bigger role, but still averaged less than 10 point a game. Bridges blossomed as RS junior, averaging 17 ppg and becoming an great 3 point shooter. Seems like NBA team discounted Bridges because he was a 4th year college player when he entered the draft and turned 22 right after the draft. There is so much emphasis on players becoming great right away. Sometimes, great players take time to develop.

he was the #10 pick, so not heavily discounted

I do remember the "which Bridges is better" debate and feeling like Mikal was the better player at the time

but I do agree with your general take that later-bloomers and older draft-eligible guys get overlooked frequently in the NBA

Searched for my draft day comments on the Mikal Bridges trade.

This was all I said. A prominent Philly poster did have a quality take at the time that you can find close to my post.

I feel bad for Bridges’ mom.

I'm mostly mad the Sixers disappointed his sweet gorgeous mom.

Found this from last year.
This is awesome.

Poor take then, poor take now.

The Clippers and Hornets traded their 2018 1st round picks with Miles Bridges going to Hornets and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander going to the Clippers. In 2019, the Clippers then traded Gilgeous-Alexander to OKC in the Paul George trade. In retrospect, who got the better of the Miles Bridges for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander trade?

I think you’re one off, but point stands. He’s playing the position as it was meant to be played. I like how Reggie Miller mentioned Wake last night.

How many players over 35 besides have scored their age or more in the playoffs? Lebron, Jordan, Kareem, and who else?

You need to show your work if you're arguing Miles is better. I don't see any argument for that looking at their stats.

The switch flipped for Miles around April 1 when he became a starter due to injuries. He was already the best in-game dunker in the league by a wide margin. But for overall play, looking at the numbers in April before he got Rona'd:

Miles 19.1 pts 7.2 rebs 2.7 Asts on 51.6% FG% and 46.7% 3pt% 81% FT%
Mikal 13.2 pts 3.0 rebs 1.7 Asts on 55.5% FG% and 41.6% 3pt% 77% FT%

The numbers aren't really close, plus Miles is 2 years younger, more athletic, and a better defender who can defend all 5 positions, in addition to the highlight dunks.

I only follow like 2 people on twitter, but one of em is bob voulgaris. But it's kinda a hate follow cause 1) I find him interesting but 2) he's an extremely cocky douchebag. But former gambler turned front office exec is a fun story to follow. He's also touted bitcoin for about a decade and that's only made him more successful and more douchey. There's a pretty big hit piece that came out on him today from the Athletic that's interesting, I had no idea he had grown that much power in the Mavs organization. Probably not good to have Luka not like ya though.

A Luka free agency would be bigger than The Decision.
