Official 2021 College Football Thread: Grass Picker Named to CFP Selection Committee!

With guys like Bateman and snake oil salesmen like Mack, no coaching staff deserved that complete collapse more than UNC. Someone posted that UNC will never live this one down, and they're correct. A totally humiliating and self-inflicted loss - UNC actually did what they usually accuse NC State of doing. UNC football may be bringing in talent, but with their current staff I don't think it will help them to improve very much. No doubt Mack 2.0 is wearing very thin in Chapel Hill right now. Lol at UNC.

But isn't that what Mack Brown has always done, except when Vince Young won Texas a natty? He's killing recruiting here in VA. He's got 4 of the top 6 VA recruits and more VA top 30 than any other school. I think they have the #10 class overall next year. But he's always underwhelming as a game coach.

Wasn’t UNC recruiting just fine before Mack came back? Seems like they have always pulled in highly rated recruits, they just don’t develop them or know how to use them.

Pretty much. They have a few more “blue chip” headline guys since Mack came back but they have always pulled in quite a bit of talent, especially from NC.

Is there a coach from his staff who’s got a good possibility of taking over when he retires? Or when he’s gone do they just start all over?

They have two known cheaters on staff now, so no need to look elsewhere for that skill set.

Rival plants flag on your home field. Your program is broken.

Huskers are the first team since 1936 to lose 8 or more games in single digits; six of those losses are to teams ranked by the Playoff Committee. There is a movement to put the Huskers in the CFP as at least the game would be close.

Best ever 3-9 team.

Evidently espn gave UNC a 99.9% chance of winning when they were up by nine. But at some point that projector has to be adjusted. College football games often have crazy endings and yet this metric doesn’t seem to account for them properly.

Agreed. Clearly it’s not a 1 in 1000 situation.

I’m guessing that stat is counting teams that were up by much more than 9, not exactly 9 or two scores.

TOSU has taken Michigan’s best shot and is going into halftime down 14-13.
