Official Election Month Thread: COUP falls short, nothing to see here

Shocked that Stein race was as close as it was. Hes highly competent but has a D next to his name. NC remains Red though people saw Forest for what he is....

Well goddamn. I’ll eat crow - people like Trump a lot more than I thought. I was really certain he had lost a lot of support, which apparently he did not lose. Maybe Hillary wasn’t as *particularly* unpopular as I believed - voters just reject the Democratic Party outright. Fuck.

Correct, because the Democratic Party cannot stop stepping on its own dick. As I said back on June 8:

Three weeks ago there was no way Trump would be around for another term. Now three weeks of playing Rope A Dope with BLM and he has it locked up.

There is no rational reason why this should even be close. Trump is horrific in pretty much every imaginable way, even Biden's corpse should be running away with it. But Biden and BLM acted like Leon Lett and let #defundthepolice give Don Beebe a chance. Maybe that wasn't the best platform to ram down the public's throat? Thanks, Twitter. Just complete and utter incompetence by the Dems; completely expected but humorous nonetheless. It is really amazing to watch them fuck this up this bad. Hopefully the duplicative and deceased voters can pull this out for Biden via the postal service.

I think Trump will win PA, but Biden will take GA. Still nearly half a million votes unaccounted for in the Atlanta metro area.

Upon further reading its only like 200K votes left in the Atlanta area, and PA still has way more than we thought. Reversing my prediction for both states. PA to Biden and GA to Trump

I was deadset on this being a Biden blowout, with a sheen of "yay, we beat racism."

Last night, it looked at times like President Trump was going to get a second term.

Now I'm fairly convinced that this is going to be a court battle until the day Joe Biden is inaugurated. And after that, it's going to be a goddamned knife fight in social circles - this election is so close and will be so hotly contested that it will just further exacerbate tensions, right?

You are all more optimistic than me. PA seems like a tall task. Not sure what to make of MI yet but looks like 440,000 outstanding votes with Biden down 25,000. Seems like he’s in good shape there at least.

Biden has a 78% 21% advantage in absentee ballots. if that holds for the remaining ballots in PA he will overtake him.

Hard to feel good about this result whether Biden ends up pulling it out or not. This country is beyond broken.

Agreed. Even if Biden wins the GOP will likely keep the Senate and gain seats in the House contrary to expectations. The Democrats also did poorly in many state races, which gives the GOP the upper hand in redistricting next year. At best Biden will run a kind of holding action, but no progressive (or even mildly liberal) legislation will get passed in the next two years. The GOP's goal is to keep the status quo going and prevent any liberal or reform bills or actions from happening, and they've basically succeeded in doing so for another two to four years, whether Biden wins or not. Biden may well win, but the Democrats need to take a long, hard look at what they're doing and make some changes, or they're going to continue to struggle to get anything accomplished (or just win bare majorities) going forward. It is damned depressing, whether Joe wins or not.

No doubt. Americans can say they want to go back to holding hands and singing kumbaya and all that, but judging from these results it's clear that they really just want to remain at each other's throats and insulting one another over the net. We've become a bread-and-circuses republic, like the Romans.

NY times thinks Biden is looking pretty good for PA because of his lead in absentee votes, where most of those will come from, and where the remaining Election Day vote needs to be counted, but then again predictions.

Side note - was anyone else surprised to see Roy Cooper win as easily as he did? I thought the rural suburban vote would turn out big for him.

If 2024 looks remotely tight I will be watching from a casino that allows live action on the election because my amateur knowledge of the electoral college told me that Trump was still a decent underdog even though he was up to -600

Gamblers should stick to losing money on sports

Last night was the live betting arbitrage moment of a lifetime.

With WI and MI looking like they will be called for Biden we wait for Nevada, where it’s only like a 10,000 vote lead. What’s the feeling there? All remains is absentee and most in the more Dem county of Clark, I guess you assume like most places absentee skews democrat as well?
