I've had two cups of coffee.
They're not gonna back a loser. This ain't gonna be a Nixon-like comeback unless you're counting on massive negligence by both parties.
Hard to do on-the-ground GOTV activities when you're the party that actually took COVID seriously. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's probably only about 60/40 normal Democrat incompetence this time.
You think that the President's base are going to accept the results of the election and believe he lost when the total vote margin is going to be like 100,000 votes over 5 states? Fuck no. He will claim election fraud, and his supporters (otherwise known as the republican party) will lap it up.
People really don't seem to understand who this guy is and where we are as a country.
I know lots of people who safely door knocked though. Like, put in hundreds of hours without getting COVID. Not only not door-knocking, not phone banking! The Dems intentionally said we don't need the Latin vote in 2020. The largest minority group in America.
If you want there to be absolutely zero chance of the Democrats having a second term, then arrest the former President of the United States.
Agreed. We kept hearing about how Democrats were vastly outspending Republicans in a lot of these Senate races, but I've read that the bulk of the money went into ads and not traditional door-to-door canvasing and face-to-face interactions. I know some of that was due to the pandemic, but the Democrats also relied on ads and didn't do as much door-to-door in 2016 either, and the GOP managed to do grassroots efforts this year in spite of the pandemic. That's why I posted earlier that the Democrats need to build better (and smarter) party organizations in each state and nationally.

I mean, Biden -IS- a bad candidate. That being said- is this post a "Bernie would have won" post or something else?
I don't get the sense that if Biden loses, it will be because progressives didn't support him. That doesn't seem to be the early story from Florida, for example. But I am open to suggestions about how a more progressive candidate or message would have won FL/NC/Iowa/Texas and would have carried democrats across the finish line in the various senate and house races that they lost. That position doesn't ring true to me at the moment, however I am at a loss to provide a position that better explains what happened.
Umm, wasn't pretty much all of it due to the pandemic? Its not like dems said "we don't need to go door-to-door." There was a calculated decision that it was safer and better not to go door-to-door due to COVID, and instead rely on phone banking and other means of contact. That appears to have been the wrong choice, but I have a hard time complaining about people who decided that the safety of campaign volunteers and the voting public was important.
Ok, let's check back on this in the fall of 2023 since we're going to agree to disagree. Let's see what 77 year old Donald Trump will do when he'll be out of the spotlight for 3 years.

Ha except they made this decision on a case-by-case basis. They door knocked and insisted people show up en masse at the polls in the primary. They entirely pivoted when they thought they'd run up a lead in the general. It's just rake stepping. You can take COVID seriously and still run a presidential campaign. Of course it might have been made more difficult by running a dinosaur who was endangered when he left the house.

The message is that florida Hispanics (and those in Tx, for that matter) were concerned about socialism.
