This is so weird if he hasn't accepted the job. I don't remember a search ever being conducted like this before.

They must have a pretty good "hand-shake" agreement at this point. Probably part of the arrangement that he must go before the "review board" in order for it to pass rubber-stamp muster.

Wellman gave up some control for the "HR hire" chance in hell and this was the trade-off. Wellman gets his man, but there's still some formality BS to go through before the dotted line is signed.

I have to admit, when I first saw that, I was like "whoa cool, it's Danny Manning!" If I hadn't been reading this thread and dreaming of never-gonna-happen scenarios, I think I would be pretty charged up by the name recognition aspect of this.
