Official Trump Swamp Thread: Still Corrupt as Fuck

This. 200+ people can work on multiple things at a time. I’d like to see the old partisans work on the Trump investigations and the new, young exciting House Dems work on policy with an eye toward having bills ready to go when the Dems take the Senate and White House.

Even before that though, over the next two years, Dems in the House need to be pounding the pavement and the media circuit about legislation they're working on. The more Dems can show Pubs to be the obstructionist party to solving people's everyday problems, the better.

This is fine, but a strong platform to help America is nore important.

if the Democrats are not going to use this opportunity to jam several metaphorical knives into the sides of the Trump administration, then what the hell are we even doing here?

Definitely. And it needs to be the new faces out there.

Trying to win the White House back in 2020? As Ph said above, House Dems really ought to be capable of doing several things at once. Hell, maybe they'll even learn how to dictate the news cycles over the next 2 years

House Republicans owned the news cycles in 2011 and 2012. They stuck to their repeal and replace message and it gradually worked for them even as ACA became more popular.

House Dems should follow a similar plan but with meaningful legislation.

People didn’t vote D for reasonable, bipartisan legislative ideas

Repealing the ACA wasn’t a legislative agenda. (Remember, there was no “replace” part until they actually took the White House and had to come up with something.) It was simply a “fuck the libs” platform. There was nothing from the Obummer admin to investigate except Benghazi which they investigated 86 times.

People voted D for a bunch of different reasons. Reasonable, bipartisan legislative ideas. Investigating Trump Admin corruption because Congressional Pubs had obviously abdicated that responsibility. To own the Pubs. Because they want to believe that Congress isn't fucking broken. None of those reasons for voting D is mutually exclusive from the rest. Dems can be a multi-faceted party even if they only control the House.

And it “worked” for them. To our shame and detriment.

Right. Which is why I said Dems should do something similar except with meaningful legislation.
