So "rugged individualism" really means "I can be a selfish whiner" to the tough men of the 21st century.
All the gripes of the far (and medium, really) right are expressions of selfishness. Their positions on immigration, environment, healthcare, economy, and religion are grounded in fear of something being taken away from them - not for their own or the nation's best interests.
It's fucking stupid
+1. And the GOP (especially the Trumpite wing) has learned how to play these people perfectly, and feed those fears of things being taken away. It's like a well-oiled propaganda machine at this point.

Some people don't like me, the same ones who call my neighbors white privileged fascists because they enjoy firearms, attend church and don’t step over the homeless to drink $6 lattes every morning (that's you Portland). Get yourself together, your embarrassing us.
Democrat history is pro-slavery, pro-KKK, anti women's suffrage, etc. You shouldn't be surprised that todays Democrats want gun confiscation, socialism and legally enforced random pronoun usage. We deserve explanations but between using arbitrary pronouns and not knowing what "food" means they are obviously struggling with words.

Italics mine. Struggling with words and random pronoun usage, indeed.

This dude could be the perfect Republican candidate in almost any part of the country. His platform is one that 90% plus of Republicans agree with, at least privately. For example, it fits perfectly that his positive proposals are nearly all vague and little more than conservative cliches ("be fiscally and socially responsible"), while the great bulk of what he's clearly worked up about consists of just opposing whatever Democrats want and bitching and moaning about them. His platform is about owning the libs ("admit that you steal from unborn babies!"), not actually implementing any kind of coherent or specific conservative agenda (unless "turning your will over to God" and being "ready for God's divine intervention" qualifies as a practical policy proposal).
WHAT DID THEY KNOW?
