If all you're looking for is a cheap, no-frills, but clean place to stay, look into the Ibis Heathrow. I was connecting through Heathrow a few years back and, after our flight got cancelled, the airline put us up there for a night. Not the Ritz-Carlton, but tidy and comfortable and convenient. One downside: airport shuttle is not free.
