Went out 3 weeks ago on the Yadkin. Got skunked. Weather was nice, but I think the water was still too cold. Hopefully going next weekend.
Pit fishers, I need a little help. I'm spending a couple of nights at a house between Belhaven and Bath on a creek that feeds into the Pamlico River. I currently have no fishing equipment, but have some experience from a couple of decades ago. I'll mainly be fishing off the dock next weekend (I'm guessing trout and puppy drum), but want to buy something that might have some usefulness for surf fishing at Isle of Palms, which is mainly young sharks. So I'm thinking a fairly mid-sized spinning combo might do the trick. Am I wrong?
That is a beautiful fish.
So I got a couple of reasonably priced spinning combos at Bass Pro. Got myself a Penn with a 7' rod for about $70. Also picked up a 6.5' cheap Shakespeare for the kids to use.
Caught a puppy drum on the first cast from the dock at the house on the river near Bath. Used some of those artificial blood worms.
Caught a couple of 1' sharks surf fishing at IOP using shrimp.
BTW, I'm going to a conference later this month at the Holiday Inn Resort at Wrightsville Beach. Any good surf fishing there at the hotel or at either of the inlets?
