How come chick field hockey sticks are so short? Is that a rule? It seems like it would be much easier to play with a longer stick (a la men's floor/street hockey). Running around as much as they do all slumped over has got to suck.

It is a rule. In fact, if I remember correctly, the length of the stick is an absolute measurement (they are given a 3" range), and not related to the height of the player. The rules of field hockey make it very unlike ice hockey, though.
