Question for Maryland (any) lawyers

I got a natural resources citation for possession of alcohol in a state park (Greenbrier). Can I just pay the fine and not worry about it? I assume it would show up on a background check as a misdemeanor. Would a lawyer be able to make it go away?

Also, I can't read the date for the court date. Do I need to call the natural resources police or the Hagerstown courthouse to get that information?
