Hating on Coach K is downright Unamerican these days. Get over it, guys. It's been 6 years since we mattered enough for irrational hate.
 
True. Listening to talk radio on the way home today and the announcers couldn't trip over themselves fast enough to defend K saying he has "earned" the right to counsel other players...Of course that is totally missing the point.

Totally true from both fronts. The Oregon guy really had no business celebrating so much for the meaningless 3 but Coach K also had no business "counseling" him in the handshake line about it. Glad they got it worked out & K apologized to Coach Altman.
 
Saying something to the kid was inappropriate. However, the much bigger story is that K totally lied about the incident until CBS made it known that it had audio of the exchange. Only then did K come clean.
That's the problem here.

Exactly and to hear the talking heads, especially Barkley, not bore down on the real issue is disappointing. I guess Rat Face is beyond reproach.
 
That is something that Dean Smith was known for as well. K once told his assistants that if he ever started acting like Dean, to just go ahead and kill him. It's funny that he is still alive because he gets more Dean-like all the time.
 
A lot of hypocrisy to the story. K didn't even suspend Allen for 1/2 of basketball this year with all the crap he pulled and then has the nerve to talk to an opposing player about showboating.

Sure that kid was showboating, He took a deep 3 as the shot clock expired, it wasn't a high percentage shot. dook - what goes around comes around. Nice to see some one rub your face in it for a change.

The problem with our 'hero worship' society. kaye can blatantly lie about what he said, saying the kid was lying and the media will defend kaye. No wonder CEO's feel they are entitled to their investors money, they've earned it.

It's rather sad that threads like this one are all that WF fans have to "hang their hats on" when discussing Coach K for the past 30 years.

You know, when Coach K came to Duke, Wake Forest was more than competitive with the Blue Devils. Coach K's first five years at Duke coincided with Carl Tacy's last five years at WF. During those five years, Duke's ACC record was 28-42, while WF's ACC record was 37-33. Head-to head, Tacy had a 9-2 record against Coach K.

So, what has Coach K done with the Duke program since then...and what have six different coaches done with the WF program? Well, here are the results:

ACC Championships: Coach K 13, WF 2
NCAAT wins: Coach K 90, WF 16
Sweet 16's: Coach K 23, WF 4
Final Fours: Coach K 12, WF 0
NCAA Championships: Coach K 5, WF 0

This is nothing less than a comparison of incredible long-term success with incredible long-term inaptitude.....and I mean truly incredible, on both ends. In light of those stunning statistics, I think I that WF fans should probably just be as quiet as possible about Coach K and hope that nobody notices what has happened with the two programs since Carl Tacy won 9 out of his 11 games against Coach K. We are just coming across as 30-year sniveling losers with continued threads like this.
