Wake had plenty of errors (3 INTs), this is not the thread for that.

That was one of the worst football games I’ve ever watched from a referee perspective. Felt like playing in Cameron Indoor.

~5 Missed pass interference calls (reminiscent of Clemson last year)

~5 Missed offsides calls

Refs did not allow Wake to hike the ball quickly and play uptempo on offense.

It started with the NC State 3rd down hold not being called on their first half TD, that was a 4pt no-call. Doeren at the half: ‘Wake’s big WRs are getting away with offensive PI’. Ok bud.

2nd half, the long NC State reception that led to a TD hit the ground but it was not reviewed, another 4pt no-call (it was 2nd down, the way our D played on 3rd down who knows if we hold to a FG, still a terrible call not to review it).

The 99yd TD drive was the cherry on top: It had the Touchback not called (another error not to review), 2 obvious PIs not called (they mysteriously picked up the flag on one), offsides not called, and the review team had the audacity to stop the game and review one of our catches despite not reviewing the aforementioned touchback or big catch. Hasslebeck rarely comments on refs but he was baffled by the refs the entire drive and for most of the game, as we all were.

"Doeren at the half: ‘Wake’s big WRs are getting away with offensive PI’."

Did he actually say that on camera?

He did. And after the game he said something to the effect of “once we realized we couldn’t touch their wide receivers, like at all, then we adjusted and played them well.”

But here’s the thing: they didn’t.

There were some major non-calls that even had the announcers incredulous.

So it’s just that the refs stopped calling them.

The fix was definitely in to keep their home streak alive. :(

There’s not an actual fix so why do refs do this? Intimidation from fans and coach? Subconscious desire to appease the league? I don’t understand how professionals shouldn’t be immune to that.

How about the PIs they called on us??? Complete horse shit calls.
Terrible calls. One wasn't even close and the guy with the best view didn't toss the flag. It came in late after the play. The other one there was actually some contact, but we were playing the ball when the contact occurred. They will absolutely punish you if you make contact without turning your head (which is probably why the first one was whistled, despite the lack of contact), but they aren't supposed to throw it if you're playing the ball.

And the illegal receiver down field on Ke'Shawn Williams that offset a 15 yard personal foul by them. Also the phantom unsportsmanlike conduct on Gavin Holmes 2 plays after he kneed their QB. Even the announcers said they didn't know what it was for, but probably because they missed the earlier one. And to no ones surprise, neither were shown on replay. It all seemed to snowball when Dave blew a gasket.

Yeah. They called an illegal receiver downfield penalty on a WR and we never got an explanation.

That is BS, refs should call "makeup" calls. If they miss something it's on them, part of the game.
