Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

Spain & England have been at 11 World Cups together. This is the first in which both went out in the group stage.

Article on Pereira's head injury in ENG-URU game and lack of concussion treatment protocol (and issues) in football

This is an article that needs to continue to be had in soccer.

I mean you get incidents like yesterday, but you also have basic actions like headers, that doctors are saying often can have the same impact of football players (who wear helmets) hitting each other. Hopefully greater steps towards player safety can be taken soon

Sunday Times front page leads on Fifa ExCo members doubling their salaries from £60k to £120k to mitigate bonus clampdown.

A reminder that FIFA is a "non-profit" organization.

Dan Shaughnessy sucks. I don't give a shit if you like soccer or not, Dan, but these are some of the worst and most tired arguments I've ever read.

Most people in Boston have known CHB is a fucking moron for a long time but this column is especially dense even by his high standards. I feel guilty for clicking the link and giving him the attention he craves. CHB is a talentless hack who is pathetically bitter because so many of his more talented colleagues at the Globe have gone on to bigger and better things and left him behind.

It really was a poor article.

I take just how that article was written and juxtapose any one of Wright Thompson's articles from his journey around Central/South America and it appears to be ages apart.
